Duoro Cruise

This Tauck Bridges Cruise takes us to two adjoining countries: Spain and Portugal. One might wonder how they came to occupy the same Iberian Peninsula and what were the factors that determined there to be two quite distinct cultural entities. The easy answer – that Portugal is some centuries older than Spain – may be found here: https://www.quora.com/When-and-why-did-Spain-and-Portugal-separate-into-two-distinct-two-nations?share=1

Our trip started with three nights in Madrid followed by a visit to the ancient village of Castelo Rodrigo, sailing on the Duoro River through several locks, finally arriving at Porto. Along the route we visited Pocinho, Pinhao, Provesende, Guimaraes, before arriving at Porto.

This trip exposed us to a part of Europe and the last of the navigable rivers that we had not yet visited, leaving us with memories fondly recall in the future.
